Sometimes, all that’s needed is a touch to remind your body: you are safe now.

The heart listens differently when it feels the warmth of your hands—

and in that warmth, the noise begins to fade.


Purpose:

To create an immediate sense of safety and calm by connecting physically and emotionally with your own heart.

Use:

When feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, or disconnected from your body. Works well before important conversations, after receiving difficult news, or before sleep.


Steps:

  1. Sit or stand in a comfortable position, shoulders relaxed.

  2. Place one or both hands gently over the center of your chest.

  3. Take a slow breath in through your nose, feeling your chest rise beneath your hands.

  4. As you exhale, whisper (or think) “I am safe now.”

  5. Notice the warmth of your hands and imagine it traveling into your heart.

  6. Continue for 3-5 breaths, allowing your body to soften and your mind to quiet.
